HELP MATH for ELL and Special Needs is the only web-based mathematics intervention specifically built to address the needs of English Language Learners struggling to reach proficiency. Developed according to the principles of Sheltered Instruction and SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol), HELP Math is effective for all struggling students in grades 3-8 and high school who need to develop academic language and prior math knowledge, in order to achieve proficiency.
The varied and contextualized hands-on experiences help students learn math facts, skills and concepts and fluency. Learning is reinforced through structured multimedia activities and the use of manipulatives, with a variety of scaffolds. Problem-solving and test-taking strategies are explicitly taught.
