Israel Meizner established Meizner Business Machines in 1941 selling adding machines and typewriters. After some time, Commodore computers were sold to the New York City Department of Education with Meizner Business Machines as the exclusive vendor. Although Commodore no longer exists today, (except on display at the Museum of Modern Art) MBM sold thousands of those computers into the NYC Schools.

In 1982, Lilly Meizner Toback began running the company. Initially, Commodore Computers were the mainstay of the business, but Apple very quickly started to populate the market and it was clear Commodore would not follow. At that point, Lilly had the foresight to bring forth the business into a new era: educational software. The company began to work with many educational publishers such as: Davidson, Broderbund, Mindplay, Tom Snyder Productions, Edmark, Inspiration software, KLM, The Learning Company, Didatech, Weekly Reader, Microsoft, Adobe, to name a few. Lilly began to win NYC bids for these products and very soon Meizner Business Machines was one of the most successful vendors (and dealers) in the area.

In the mid 1990's, the name of the company was changed to Meizner, Inc. since no more business machines were being offered through Meizner,Inc. Lilly and her staff (including her daughter Allegra) worked with schools to improve instructional effectiveness through technology. Taking into account the diverse learning groups, needs, resources, budgets and requirements of the schools, Meizner, Inc. leading the schools into new times where software is focused on data-driven instruction into each classroom. Meizner, Inc. is committed to bringing the newest advances in software to the NYC Schools from many publishers across the country.

Meizner, Inc. also formed a training group and has a long-standing proven track record of success. The professional development courses offered are individualized and designed to support all forms of instruction and learning bringing teachers and students into the 21st century classroom.
